Wilmington Ballet and the SummerCollab have been working together since the inception of Tyler's Camp in 2016 to offer low-income families in the Wilmington area an opportunity for their children to study dance tuition-free. Wilmington Ballet's instructors design summer enrichment classes to teach upper-elementary and middle-school students about the history and technique of different dance forms and give the students the chance to perform choreography at the conclusion of camp. Through this process, Wilmington Ballet's instructors and directors identify summer students who show particular interest and commitment to dance and invite them to continue their dance studies on scholarship at Wilmington Ballet.
Wilmington Ballet is committed to making dance instruction and performance accessible to all members of our community, regardless of economic circumstances. We are happy to partner with other community organizations to provide performance demonstrations and workshops upon request. It has been our pleasure to give complimentary tickets for our annual Nutcracker at the Playhouse on Rodney Square to families from Delaware Guidance Services, the Latin American Community Center, Lewis Elementary School, the Montessori Academy at Christiana, Serviam Girls Academy, Nativity Prep, and the West End Neighborhood House.
